Students Research Circle

Students Research Circle of the Centre for Cardiovascular Research and Development

Students Research Circle (SRC) works as a part of CCRD AHP since October 2012 - members of SRC are medical students who completed second year of Medical University as well as medical interns

The main objectives of SRC are educational activities as well as to enable students their scientific development. SRC meetings take place every 2 or 3 weeks and concern lectures in the field of internal medicine, cardiology, recent scientific reports as well as issues chosen by students.

Exemplary scope of work:

Comparison of clinical effects of carotid revascularisation using stents and endarterectomy
Clinical observations of patients after stent implantation (Alex, Absorb)
Evaluation of clinical effects of cryoablation of the pulmonary veins
Quantitative OCT image analysis
Patient observation after CRT and ICD implantation
FFR assessment

SRC allows for students development by:

  • transfer of knowledge;
  • collaboration in analysis of scientific articles;
  • discussing the methodology of conducted studies;
  • preparation for conference speeches;
  • special guests lectures;
  • learning how to efficiently use spreadsheets and statistical analysis;
  • OCT, QCA calculations;
  • active participation in conferences, both national and international.

Participation in conferences

Thanks to a large and systematic involvement of our students, as well as comprehensive support of the tutors, the activities of our scientific circle were awarded and highly regarded both at the National and International Scientific Conferences.
